Maidenhair fern
Maidenhair
fern fronds have a characteristic
circular shape with thin, delicate subleaflets. Wiry black stems
provide a nice contrast to the green foliage. In spring, the fern sends
up slim, barely visible reddish fiddleheads.

Sun:
part to full shade
Soil: rich loam, neutral to slightly alkaline
Moisture: moist to moist-wet
Height: 1-2½ feet
Uses: Plant in drifts in a woodland garden,
especially on a hillside, where the beautiful leaf shape is more easily
seen. Clumps will spread to form a ground cover, but plants are not
aggressive. For a smaller garden, plant a few together to provide a
focus.
